I can't believe it is May 1st and we are already back from this incredible vacation we had planned nearly six months before. The whole trip was amazing and I'm so excited to share the images! Let me start by saying I am NOT a landscape photographer. I specialize in photographing people, specifically love and weddings, and I wished I had a bride and groom to carry in my pocket this entire trip. The backdrops everywhere you turn were just GORGEOUS!!
This is a long post so I'll start with Ireland! We started our three day tour in Dublin and then drove (yes on the left side of the road) to Galway with a quick stop in Enfield at the cutest little pub. Galway was everything I had imagined and more, and I honestly could have spent a week just there. Next we drove to the Cliffs of Moher. These babies are a bit scarier than I expected because the wind gusts could just about blow you off the cliff!
Next up, we hopped on a flight to Switzerland for the real purpose of the trip to visit Chris's hometown friend Jamey, who with his wife Amanda, is spending two years abroad with his company. Dan (another one of Chris's hometown friends) and his wife Joanna planned their trip so that we could all meet in Geneva at the same time!
While we were in Geneva we took the opportunity to visit as many surrounding beautiful places as possible! Below you'll see our first stop was Chamonix, France. This is a quaint little ski town with gorgeous views every way you turn. After the covered bridge picture below is one of Lac Leman from the top of Geneva's Cathedral. Then it's followed by photos of Annecy which has been dubbed France's Venice.
Back to grayer skies as we traveled to Scotland with Jamey and Amanda (Mo). This will truly be a trip to always remember. We started the trip in Edinburgh and with a quick tour of the castle, we headed to Oban where the trip there was a bit longer than expected with a flat tire! I felt like we were truly getting the entire European experience. Of course I took every opportunity I could to snap pictures of this adorable couple and their little one (who wasn't feeling well). In Oban there was seafood to die for, incredible views and the cutest of pubs! On the way back to Edinburgh we stopped in St. Andrews (where Kate Middleton and Prince William met!!) and Chris and Jamey were able to play the St. Andrews golf course. That's also where we got to have a five minute impromptu photo shoot!
I'll finish with one of the only photos we took together in Chamonix, France! Thank you to Joanna for taking reigns of the camera to create the perfect picture I had in my mind. This was truly a trip of a lifetime and we are already itching to get back to Europe on our next adventure as soon as possible! Perhaps a future MJP bride is having a destination wedding abroad?! Can't wait!!
