**Personal post filled with iPhone Photos!
The last couple of weeks have been insanely busy with personal commitments, and I've found myself busy with the back end of running a business instead of shooting. Since I came from the business world, I love both sides, but it was certainly fun to get away this weekend for the epic wedding of good friends Dan and Joanna. I'll admit, it was hard to not have my camera/limb attached this weekend so all of these iPhone photos will have to do. The only tip I gave my soon to be wed friends was to make it a long kiss at the alter so the photographer didn't miss it! They happily obliged. Here's a little break down of this weekend being completely a guest.
We got to Chicago on Thursday and took our time exploring on the water taxi, checking out the famous bean and trying out a top restaurant Girl and the Goat. I was so impressed with Chicago, it being my first time there. The architecture was beautiful and everyone spoke to on the street was so helpful and kind. The food at Girl and the Goat was to die for and it made a nice little welcome date for us. On our drive up to Wisconsin that night with friends Chelsea and Scott, we stopped for some hotdogs and Spotted Cow, two of the many Wisconsin musts. The next day we explored Milwaukee for a bit, more amazing food, and then the wedding festivities began!
We started at the rehearsal where Chris was asked to do a reading and immediately following we went to the beginning of what seemed like an endless party. The rehearsal dinner was held at McGillycuddy’s where the couple shared one of their first dates together. The evening was complete with more Spotted Cow, a memorable father of the groom speech and constant laughter and love. Also cheese curds... lots and lots of cheese curds.
Although the wedding day was slotted for rain, it seemed that the sun was doing it's best to hang on and in the end compromised with fog. Joanna wore a beautiful white gown with a detailed lace back. Did I mention I didn't have my camera? Well then my iPhone died because of too much fun at McGuilicuddy's, so I was at the mercy of others. The ceremony was so beautiful, complete with teary eyed love letters and vows (I was one of the teary eyed!), followed by a mini cocktail hour on the lawn outside of the church. The bride and groom are the hosts of a annual competitive lawn game get together, so it just made sense that Kan Jam and Corn Hole were waiting for us outside.
The tented reception was at Discovery World overlooking US Bank, where Joanna and Dan first met. The night ended with so much laughter, love and fun.. and most importantly - dancing. Here's a picture of a pretty awesome photo booth picture I would say sums up the weekend.
This wedding was incredible and I'm so glad I could be a part of it. In the last few weeks I've been blown away by my wedding photography success and have already had some close calls about missing friends' weddings for 2017. Whether you want me to be a photographer, friend, or both I'd love to know your date ASAP :)
P.S. Photo cred for these goes to Chelsea Brown!!
